While the final standards for Beryllium exposure were published and went into effect on September 30th of this year, OSHA recently proposed revisions to more appropriately tailor the requirements of the standards to the exposures in the construction and shipyard industries.
OSHA has proposed the following:
- Extend the compliance deadline for ancillary provisions to September 2020,
- Appropriately tailor requirements of the standard to exposures within the construction and shipyard industries,
- Maintain safety and health protections for workers,
- Facilitate compliance with the standards, and
- Increase cost savings.
The commenting period is currently open with a tentative hearing date set for December 3, 2019. Until then, continue with the current standards.
